Grounding Nets

When installing heat mats in wet areas such as shower rooms, en-suites and bathrooms, grounding nets should be fitted on top of the heat mats to comply with UK regulations. Grounding nets are also required in kitchens within half a metre of sinks or white goods such as fridges, hobs, ovens etc.

Grounding nets consist of a fine metal mesh just 0.35mm thick and are supplied in four sizes:

  • 0.5m x 1.0m
  • 0.5m x 2.0m
  • 0.5m x 3.0m
  • 0.5m x 4.0m

Grounding nets should completely cover the heat mat it is laid on top of, secured using staples or adhesive tape and may be cut if required. Each grounding net has a three-metre length of earth cable that should be connected to the property’s earth.
